
The latest Public Attitudes Tracker survey by the UK Government’s Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy (BEIS) shows ongoing support for renewables from UK public, with 80% supporting renewable energy developments and 3% opposing them. The latest numbers (conducted in September 2020, published on 12 November) are consistent with opinions expressed in June 2020 (80% pro, 2% against) and March 2020 (79%, 2% against).
In detail, these latest numbers (conducted in September 2020, published on 12 November) show strong support for each of the renewable energy sources: strongest for solar (85%), closely followed by emerging wave and tidal technologies (79%), offshore wind (77%), onshore wind (73%), and finally biomass (68%). The opposition levels stayed low, at 3-7%, for all renewable energy developments.
